Sales of Existing U.S. Homes Have Fallen Greatly in October 2010Sales of Existing U.S. Homes Have Fallen Greatly in October 2010 Sales of existing homes fell more than twice the amount previously forecasted for the month of October 2010 mostly due to the plethora of distressed properties and the climbing unemployment rate. And unfortunately, the innumerable concerns regarding the foreclosure process of American banks are threatening to advance the healing process even more. Sales last month fell in all four of the countrys regions the worst being the 3.4-percent-plummet in the South. In October 2010, the median existing homes sales price fell to $170,500. Last year, in October 2009, sales were steady at $172,000. Purchases on single-family homes are 2 percent lower than just last month. D.R. Horton, Inc., Americas second-largest homebuilder by revenue, guesses that housing starts in the coming year will be "challenging" for our industry as more and more people become unemployed. Over 70 economists were surveyed by Bloomberg and the results are startling this research shows estimates from 3.85 million to 4.7 million.
